Snack Attack!

At my recent visit to my neighborhood Farmer’s market, where as a member of the Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) I get to choose 4 items of organic produce each week, I happened to notice some unfamiliar greens. Speaking to the lady (Joan) who runs the stall I learned that they were sweet potato greens, from the tops of the plants while the sweet potatoes are growing down. What's in Your Water?

During the often sweltering heat of the summer months quenching a thirst is a major necessity.  Water is a great choice to meet this challenge in every instance.  However, for something that is ubiquitous for those of us living in developed societies, the real challenge becomes deciding what water or which brand to choose.

There are so many choices.  There is "spring" water, "mineral" water, or even "distilled" water anyone?  There are the many varieties of "sports" waters with added sugars and sodium, ostensibly for the real warriors!  There are the many brands and varieties of sweetened fruit infused waters.  One of the latest additions is the "vitamin" fortified variety. 

You'd think all we had to depend on for sustenance was manufactured water!

What's Your Water In?

We all drink bottled water sometime.  Many of us drink it exclusively.  Ever think about that bottle your water is in?  Even if it is just plain water, is that all you're getting out of that plastic bottle?  Hopefully so. Possibly not.

Consider this.  In addition to the sweeteners, vitamins, minerals and other energy boosting additives that manufacturers admit to putting in your water, you might be getting an unknown dose of certain chemicals which can leak out and into the water you drink from the container. 

This is not a major problem with all plastics so it's important to know your plastic.
